The competitors who will perform in the stage of the
Municipal House of Culture, in Seia, will be evaluated by an international
jury consisting of eminent figures, expressly come from various countries,
and also includes two judges of Portuguese nationality.
Closer to the date of the Festival will be revealed the composition of the
panel. We mean leading figures in the world of the music, whether in the
field of composition, of the lyrics, of the orchestral arrangements or of
the music teaching, and also in the organization of similar festivals to
FICSE. And mainly in the experience of the daily work with children and
young people.

The participation
in international festivals makes possible to young singers – by the
atmosphere, by the conviviality with foreign children and by the type of
competition they can find, different of the national festivals – a
significant evolutionary process. From round to round, it is remarkable
to see how competitors are improving their performance – and that is not
indifferent to the observations of the juries.
It is also the atmosphere that habitually we live during the days of a
festival that gives to these young artists a bigger motivation and confidence
in their possibilities. Sometimes, the characteristic timidity of children
reduce them the self-esteem, but it is demonstrated that after their
participation in a festival like this, they usually feel a stimulus and a
motivation that had not before. It is curious to see how just a few hours
after they met, and ignoring each other's language, young people make friends
and share jokes ... Young people coming from countries often so distant
and so different ...
Although the participation in international festivals contributes a lot
to the personal development of participants, the message of the International
Song Festival of Serra da Estrela among the young singers is: try always
to give your best, but don’t be blind by the obsession of the victories.
The competition serves to stimulate our qualities, but we have to face these
participations in a healthy way. To win and to lose are part of life: we
must know how to win, we must know how to lose. These values will guide
the members of the jury of FICSE in their evaluations.
